The formulary contains a very broad list of medications for most medical conditions that are treated on an outpatient basis. Because the medications on the formulary are preferred, you will usually pay a lower copayment than you would for non-preferred drugs. The medications are chosen for their safety, effectiveness and cost. You can find out if your medication is on the list by checking the CVS Caremark preferred drug List and entering the name of your medication.
