Most other companies are facing the same challenges as Lockheed Martin, and a number of them have reduced or eliminated coverage altogether for current retirees. Some companies are managing increases solely by shifting cost to members through changes in plan design, other companies, like Lockheed martin, are looking for opportunities to help retirees proactively manage their health to slow the increase in health care costs. This means providing access to resources to help retirees in ways like eating right, exercising regularly and managing chronic health conditions.
