The formulary is a list of drugs chosen for their safety, effectiveness and cost. It can help you learn about your medication and find out about safe alternatives (if available) that can save you money.
Remember, under the LM HealthWorks Plan, you pay a percentage share of drug costs (called coinsurance). Since you will pay the lowest coinsurance when you use generics, it may be worthwhile to ask your doctor about generic equivalents for the medications you use. If generics aren’t available, you can still save with preferred brand-name medications listed on the formulary. To view the formulary, go to the "Drug list" at https://info.caremark.com/lmrx/. There, you can enter a drug name or select one from the alphabetical listing to find out if it’s on the formulary. If it isn’t, you’ll be given the option to “see alternatives” for other medications you can discuss with your doctor.
If you use a medication on a continuing basis, you’ll be able to use the mail-order service to make filling long-term prescriptions easier and save on the cost of your drugs. With the mail-order service, you typically can order up to a 90-day supply of medication for the cost of a 60-day supply purchased at a retail pharmacy, with the added convenience of having it delivered right to your home, or you can choose to pick up your 90-day supply at your local CVS store.
