Learn about the formulary.

The formulary is a list of drugs chosen for their safety, effectiveness and cost. It can help you learn about your medication and find out about safe alternatives (if available) that can save you money.

Remember, under the LM HealthWorks Plan, you pay a percentage share of drug costs (called coinsurance). Since you will pay the lowest coinsurance when you use generics, it may be worthwhile to ask your doctor about generic equivalents for the medications you use. If generics aren’t available, you can still save with preferred brand-name medications listed on the formulary. To view the formulary, go to the Preferred Prescriptions® Drug List at www.express-scripts.com There, you can enter a drug name or select one from the alphabetical listing to find out if it’s on the formulary. If it isn’t, you’ll be given the option to “see alternatives” for other medications you can discuss with your doctor.

As an enrolled LM HealthWorks Plan member, you can use the Express Scripts mail-order service.

If you use a medication on a continuing basis, you’ll be able to use the mail-order service to make filling long-term prescriptions easier and save on the cost of your drugs. With the mail-order service, you typically can order up to a 90-day supply of medication for the cost of a 60-day supply purchased at a retail pharmacy, with the added convenience of having it delivered right to your home.

An additional co-payment of up to $25 per fill will apply for long-term medications (such as those used to treat diabetes or high cholesterol) that are not converted to mail order after the third fill. To avoid this cost, order your long-term prescriptions using the Express Scripts mail order service. You’ll still pay your current co-payment for short-term medication (such as antibiotics) filled at a participating retail pharmacy.
